Benefits of Membership in EMTAR
l  EDUCATIONAL RESOURCES
Seminars and Workshops  - Educational sessions are a major association benefit and priority.  Subjects are carefully selected to meet current and ongoing member needs in the areas of real estate and legal liability training. Association specializes in 3 to 4 hour courses to allow members to take education offering but not have to be away from their work for long periods at a time.

Orientation for New Members - Courses are conducted to inform new members of their opportunities as well as their responsibilities. A new members transferring from one of the surrounding counties does not have to retake orientation.

Special Designation Courses - Courses to satisfy the requirements of those seeking professional designations such as GRI, CRS ,CRB or ABR are co-sponsored by the association or associations near by.

License Credit Courses - Courses to satisfy continuing education and pre and post license requirements are offered by the local Association and associations near by.

State Courses and Regional Seminars - The Real Estate Education Foundation (TREEF) of the Tennessee Association of REALTORS® (TAR) cosponsors courses with the local Association.  TREEF and TAR offer courses, many approved for license credit.

NAR Library - The National Association of REALTORS® maintains the largest real estate library in the world in Chicago.   Items may be ordered and returned by mail by any REALTOR®.

Convention and Business Meetings -  State and National meetings offer members excellent education opportunities at economical group rates as well as excellent networking opportunities.

l INFORMATION/PUBLICATIONS
Communication Effort - The Association makes a constant effort to keep members informed and served on all matters concerning real estate and member activities.  Membership Handbook-
handbook with all Realtor and Affiliates members data and company affiliation plus pictures and designations.

Membership Meetings - General Business Meetings/luncheons are held on a regular basis, usually the third Thursday of the month.  These meetings provide opportunity for direct communication among members and a means to present timely programs and updates on Association activities.  The
Annual Meeting is held in September to elect officers.

Weekly Email - All Association members receive a weekly email.

Bulletins - Throughout the year, bulletins, faxes, computer messages and hot sheets are reminders of important meetings, seminars , events, Call to Actions,  and deadlines.

Member Rosters - Members can request updated rosters, listed by firm with members listed.

Tennessee REALTOR® -  Published by the Tennessee Association, this newsletter is sent directly to all members with pertinent state information about meetings, education, and legal and legislative
matters.

Real Estate Today -  Published by the National Association of REALTORS®, provides educational articles and information on real estate.

Internet Presence:  www.wilsoncountyrealtors.com is your free local internet site when members can link to their personal site.  Public can view data about areas in the association jurisdiction and contacts can be made.

l  PROFESSIONALS STANDARDS
Code of Ethics -  The Code provides the basis for professional conduct and cooperation between REALTORS® and the public they serve.

Grievance and Ethics Hearings -   The Grievance and Professional Standards Committees are responsible for investigating and, when appropriate, hearing complaints from members and public.

Arbitration Service -  Arbitration of commission disputes between members is an important service of the Association as well as disputes about money arising from customers.

Affirmative Marketing Agreement - This agreement between HUD and the REALTORS® Association furthers the professional conduct of members by implementing policy to promote fair housing.

l  PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Institutes, Societies, and Councils - Members may affiliate with Real Estate Specialty groups in areas such as appraising, property management, commercial and residential brokerage.

Tennessee Association of Realtors - Members are automatically affiliated with the state Association when they join the local Association.   Based in Nashville, TAR maintains a professional staff to provide strong legislative and educational services as well as communications and other members benefits.

National Association of Realtors - Affiliation with NAR is automatic with local and state membership.  NAR represents REALTORS® in all states as the world’s largest Trade Association.  Service includes liaison with Congress and the presidential administration, education, advertising
campaigns for REALTORS®, research and legal counsel.  A member library is also available.

Leadership Development - Members have an opportunity to leadership and professional growth through service on committees and involvement in Association activities.

l  RECOGNITION & DESIGNATIONS
Proud Title - REALTOR® is a federally registered mark which identifies members who by their membership, subscribe to a strict Code of Ethics.

Professional Designations - Members may earn designations which reflect education and expertise in real estate specialty areas such as property management(CPM), residential sales(CRS), and commercial investment transactions(CCIM).

Awards Programs - Public and peer recognition of members achievements and service is advanced through local, state and national awards such as REALTOR® of the Year, RPAC and other special awards.

l  PUBLIC RELATIONS
Public Awareness - Constant media coverage of achievements through education and community projects of membership, such as GRI ,CRS designations earned.

l  LEGISLATIVE ACTIVITIES
Protection Private Property Rights - Monitoring proposed legislation affecting property rights and the real estate industry and keeping you informed are Association services offered on local, state and national levels.

Calls To Action and Contacts - A network of key members to represent you in the legislature on issues affecting your livelihood in Wilson County, Nashville and Washington.  The REALTOR® Political Action Fund complements this program.

Networking and Contacts - You have the advantage of numerous opportunities to meet with your peers and expand your circle of valuable business contacts including affiliated industries of title, mortgage lending and appraising.

Insurance - Low-cost group medical available through Mutual of Omaha for WCAR members.  NAR programs now include IRA’s, Retirement Plans/401K etc. .

Legal Hot Line - Through TAR Legal Hot Line, members can receive current legal liability information and answers to legal questions.
